Nusalala

Common name Nusalala
Scientific Name Nusalala brachyptera Oswald
Order Neuròptera
Medium Ink on film

We usually think of lacewings as flying insects. However Nusalala, a brown lacewing, evolved over time into a hopping insect. Insects who live in the treetops, sometimes can't travel and develop quite differently than their cousins, in neighboring trees. Nusalala now gets around, without the aid of its wings which have become so heavily sclerotized (thick veins) that she can no longer fly.
